Virat Kohli's recipe for vegetarian fried rice with a twist is a must-try (recipe inside)  



Call it a guilty pleasure or a way to add a twist, but there's always something delicious about home-cooked meals.

 If you like to experiment, we checked out cricketer Virat Kohli's healthy  fried rice recipe. "Try making vegetable fried rice with vegetable stock. 

It's great. 

It's better than any street-style fried rice you've had anywhere," he said in a YouTube chat with stand-up comedian Rahul Subramanian about food, Bengaluru and his brand One8Commune. 

. He also said in the same conversation that the dosas were a revelation "when I came to Bengaluru". 

"In Delhi, we ate beetroot and carrots for dinner. The crispy portions were unreal to me, something I will never forget," she said. 

Another dish he tried that caught his eye was the Chicken Kruska. "I used to break 30-40 pieces at a time when I was about 13," he recalls.

 Vegetable fried rice with vegetable broth  

 Ingredients 

  - 1 cup of brown rice (uncooked) 

 - 2 cups of vegetable broth

  - 1 tablespoon of olive oil  

- 1 chopped onion 

 - 2 garlic cloves, minced 

 - 1 cubed carrot 

 - 1 pepper, chopped 

 - 1 cup of broccoli florets 

 - 1/2 cup of peas 

 - 2 tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce  

- 1 tablespoon grated ginger  

- Salt and pepper to taste

  – Fresh herbs for garnish (eg coriander or green onion).  

Method  :-

Cook  brown rice in vegetable broth according to package instructions. This gives the rice  extra flavor. 

* Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add  onion and garlic, fry until  onion is transparent.

 *Add carrots, peppers, broccoli and peas to the pan. Fry until the vegetables are cooked but still crunchy. 

*Add  cooked rice, soy sauce and grated ginger to the pan. Mix well  and heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 

* Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.  This dish, which includes brown rice cooked in vegetable broth, offers many health benefits, Lohia mentioned. 

"Brown rice, a whole grain, is a key factor in reducing the risk of heart disease. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition highlights that whole grains such as brown rice can significantly improve cholesterol  and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes ," Lohia said. 

 The recipe includes a variety of vegetables such as carrots,  peppers, broccoli and peas, ensuring a rich supply of  vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. 

“These nutrients are essential for maintaining a strong immune system and healthy skin. In addition, using olive oil instead of animal fats or butter significantly reduces the amount of saturated fatty acids in the preparation," said Lohia. 

Olive oil is praised for its heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which further increase the nutritional value of this dish, Lohia added.  Vegetable stock can be used in various dishes, such as soups, stews, sauces, risottos, etc. "It provides a versatile base that enhances the flavor of the various ingredients and brings them together harmoniously," Modi said.
